The Train - Finally On Canvas

It seemed like it took forever for this little train to make it on canvas. But here it is! My son loved seeing his favorite toy painted so big - so naturally it now hangs in his room.

blind contour friday 12

Isn't this the cutest butterfly (sorry for the horrible pic)? I teach arts and crafts at Noah's preschool and this is the Letter B Craft. This is one of the best craft for kids. The wings are made of coffee filter, colored blue using a washable marker and then sprayed with water. The color bled and created this pattern. I just had to draw it because of the many folds on the wings.

Other blind contours can be found at Inkfinger.

self portrait tuesday - self documentary series

My son, Caleb, seems to be thinking...."I'm going to eat THAT??!!" Days in the kitchen start out with opening a jar of baby food, swirling its contents into a bowl, and trying to catch that little mouth to open wide. Caleb seems to be tired of baby food lately. He's more interested in "big people food."

So I've been slacking on Self Portrait Tuesday these days because life at home has been busy. Good busy. I take the pics but don't actually post them until days later. It's becoming a self portrait thursday for me lately.

Here's another self portrait - though not in a series...I might re-visit and make this into a series. There are some incredible self portraits over at Kath's site, Self Portrait Tuesday - check them all out!

blind contour friday 11

First comes ducks and now trains! My 3 year old son LOVES trains. We've got trains coming out of our ears. We play with trains all day and everyday. So finally I started drawing what's always around me....Noah's trains. I took my time drawing this one train while Noah watched (can you guess?) his "Thomas the tank engine" movies. This train is one of his favorites (next to his "Thomas trains"). I'm planning to paint this train for his room. These sketches might find their way to my canvas but with some acrylic paints on them. And Noah seems to like how these trains turned out so that's a good thing.

Love blind contour drawings? There are more lovely blind contour drawings over at Inkfinger. Check them out!

self portrait tuesday - self documentary series

Trains, trains, and more trains! Seems like we play with trains all day, everyday. This month's theme for Self Portrait Tuesday is Self Documentary Series. I actually goofed last week and forgot to take a series of pics for this month's theme. Check out other Self Documentary Series at Self Portrait Tuesday.

Don't know why I haven't drawn/painted a portrait of my husband in the 10 years we've known each other so here he is as I see him "blindly."

softie

Is it a bear? A pig? Haven't decided yet, but this little one (8" tall) just wanted to jump out of my sewing machine. I wanted to make a softie, so I quickly sketched a pattern for this little one and loved how lopsided he looks in the end.
